CCCS of Greater Dallas Announces Local Poster Contest Winners FNational Poster Contest Illustrates the Importance of Financial Literacy
Dallas - April 30, 2010 - Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS of Greater Dallas), a non-profit provider of credit and housing counseling and financial education, announces the local finalists of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling's 2010 National Be Money Wi$e Poster Contest. This year's contest theme was, "Smart Money Choices = A Brighter Future."
CCCS of Greater Dallas chose local elementary finalists Carlos Pena and Marquis Rollins, fifth graders from John Neely Bryan Elementary in Dallas; middle school finalist Abbey Williams, a seventh grader from Valley View Middle School in Valley View; and high school finalist Katie Dodge, a twelfth grader at the Frisco ISD Career & Technical Education Center. The local winners receive a $25 Target gift card and an NFCC poster contest T-shirt. The entries were submitted into the national contest as the CCCS of Greater Dallas' finalists.
"We are so proud of our local winners," said Todd Mark, vice president of education for CCCS of Greater Dallas. "We hope the poster contest helped the children learn more about developing smart and responsible skills at an early age. We know the younger individuals understand financial literacy, the better chance they have at becoming successful and happy adults."
Students from public or private schools, as well as home-schooled children, were invited to enter the contest. Entries were judged on expression of the theme, artistic style and creativity.
CCCS of Greater Dallas supports the contest because it helps promote the importance of wise money management for people of all ages and encourages the importance of early financial education for America's youth.
